My Name is Jason Stockford. I have created this blog as part of the requirements for EDC 525 at URI for the fall 2016 semester. I am currently a professor of Mathematics at CCRI and I am taking this class for professional development purposes.
I am currently teaching a full load and then some (eight classes this term) and one of them is an online/distance learning class. With regard to the online class, it has been a learning experience. When I was in college there weren't as many options to take online courses, so it is a challenge to teach a course when one has a lack of experience from the student perspective.
One thing which is challenging, but fruitful in this class is the use of free online blogs. In my teaching experience I have used programs such as Sakai, Blackboard, and My Math Lab; however, I have not used a blog for teaching or learning purposes.
